Following your dreams comes with many firsts; the first time you discover what you love doing and the first time you share your passion with someone.
I was just four years old when my dad was watching the Leaf’s Game and the national anthem started to play. I jumped up like a jumping bean out of my seat and started loudly singing the national anthem with all my heart. My dad looked at me like I had two heads, but it was the start of an invisible drive that would never cease.
Fast forward 24 years and it’s 2018. I’m getting my first singing lesson, gifted to me by my mother for Christmas, and with my teacher, Melissa-Marie Shriner, I dreamed up a dream to sing on stage, have my own concert and I even dreamed to be like her and study opera in Italy. It took eight years for me to bring the dream of having my first concert into reality.
By the end of 2025, I threw caution to the wind and I decided to commit to hosting my first concert, a Christmas Concert, in December 2026. It gave me a year to plan and prepare for my first concert.
Over the past eight years bringing this dream into reality, I have grown as a singer, in confidence, in support and in strength. When you love what you do, you spend time on your craft and it improves with practice, as all skills do.
I learned along the way that perfection is unattainable and starting imperfectly is what matters most, as long as you are doing what you love. Sharing my passion for music while singing from my soul is like an energy transference from me to the listener. I vibrate with an energy unlike when I practice at home alone and it’s invigorating, addicting and energizing. It’s a rush of endorphins and a workout as movement is natural when the music overtakes you.
All I want to do is share music and my interpretation of familiar favourites with those who want to listen and enjoy.
I designed the concert to be free admission with an opportunity to donate to the Local Community Food Centre, a non-profit that is dear to my heart. I also designed it to be fun and there will be a draw at Intermission as well as a silent auction with 15 fantastic prizes donated by local businesses.
Seating is limited at the Falstaff Family Centre in Stratford, so reserving your tickets ahead of time is suggested.
The concert is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. Visit https://events.humanitix.com/an-intimate-christmas-concert for more information and to reserve tickets.
This is my first concert, with many more to come, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
